DEBUTS (edition 2017)
The DEBUTS (edition 2017) exhibition presents the laureates of the fourth edition of the project, which is a cross section of what preoccupies attention of the most talented emerging Polish photographers, despite of their age, backgrounds, beliefs and gender. The project is open for everyone who has just developed a passion for photography which can appear at any age, under the influence of different experiences. That is what happened to the twenty photographers whose pictures are presented at this exhibition. Their works discuss totally different stories and use different photo techniques. There are stylised portraits and landscapes as well as dark and dirty photos, looking as if secretly taken, so that no one could notice presence of the photographer. There are also pictures taken under the influence of the moment and emotions associated with it, as well as those thoughtfully composed and planned. <BR><BR> Photographers: Piotr Barejka, Monika Chrabąszcz-Tarkowska, Monika Cichoszewska, Weronika Cyganik, Baltazar Fajto, Maria Gawryluk, Joanna Grochala, Aleksandra Iwańczak, Dominika Jaruga, Paweł Jóźwiak, Adam Karaś, Michał Konrad, Agnieszka Lepka, Bartłomiej Maślak, Paulina Ratajczak, Agata Reclaf-Ropel, Michał Skrętkowicz, Łukasz Szamałek, Adrian Vozny and Dawid Zieliński. <BR><BR> DEBUTS (edition 2017) jury: Peter Bauza (Germany/Argentina), photographer, winner of this year’s edition of the World Press Photo contest in the Contemporary Issues - Series category; Grzegorz Kosmala (Poland), editor-in-chief of the doc! photo magazine quarterly, originator of the DEBUTS project; Olivier Spillebout (France), promotor of Polish photography in France, owner of the Maison de la Photographie gallery in Lille, founder and director of the Transphotographique Festival; Marie-Pierre Subtil (France), editor-in-chief of the 6Mois, an international photojournalism magazine; Georges Vercheval (Belgium), founder and the first director of the Charleroi Museum of Photography, columnist of the doc! photo magazine quarterly. <BR><BR> DEBUTS is organised by the publisher of a quarterly mook dedicated to contemporary documentary photography - doc! photo magazine.
Exhibition Curator
Grzegorz Kosmala – founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the doc! photo magazine, an international quarterly mook dedicated to contemporary documentary photography. The originator and juror of DEBUTS project promoting the most talented emerging Polish photographers. Prior to founding the magazine, he supervised the 7th and 8th edition of the BZ WBK Press Foto, one of the Poland’s biggest press photography competitions. He graduated from Media Management and International Relations and Diplomacy at the Nowy Sącz School of Business.

DEBUTS (edycja 2017)
Wystawa DEBUTS (edition 2017) prezentuje laureatów czwartej edycji tego projektu, który jest przekrojem tego, co zaprząta głowy najbardziej utalentowanych wschodzących polskich fotografów, bez względu na ich wiek, pochodzenie, przekonania czy płeć. Projekt jest otwarty dla każdego, kto odkrył w sobie pasję fotografa, a to przecież może nastąpić w każdym wieku, pod wpływem różnych doświadczeń. Tak właśnie jest z grupą dwudziestu fotografów, których zdjęcia składają się na tę wystawę. Ich prace poruszają skrajnie odmienne historie i są zrealizowane różnymi technikami fotograficznymi. Znajdziemy tu zarówno wystylizowane portrety oraz pejzaże, jak również brudne kadry robione jakby z ukrycia, tak by nikt nie zauważył obecności fotografa.
